For my Honors contract in P105: Giving and Volunteering in America, I will lead a philanthropic service learning project. For this project, I will gather, inform and lead a group of student volunteers from IUPUI at the next Walk to Defeat ALS. It is even run by the ALS Association to raise funds for locals to maintain nursing services and support research. In connection with the organization of volunteers, I will organize a hiking team. The objectives of this project include: attracting at least 20 volunteers, a 10-person hiking team and raising at least $500 to donate to the ALS Association. You submit a discussion paper to your faculty member and honors college at the end of the semester, and your faculty member has the option to apply for an additional project to receive an honors credit. In addition, students must inform Lisa Ruch (lruch@iupui.edu) at Honors College if they do not complete the Honors project during the semester. Complete this form to receive honour credits for a graduate course at level 500 or higher taken as a student.
The form requires you to provide a 200-300 word description of the experience you are applying for to earn an honors credit. This form does not require the approval of the faculty member and you do not need to complete an honorary project or discussion paper at the end of the semester. As long as the application is submitted within the above deadline, the course will be automatically counted for recognition of honors. To ensure this is a successful event and service opportunity, I will have an open dialogue with the Indiana ALS Chapter. This includes several visits to their office for sit-in meetings and phone calls to make sure I follow their guidelines as I am the face of their organization at IUPUI. I will also keep a detailed diary of my daily activities related to the process of setting up and executing the philanthropic learning project, and I will write a final four-page reflection based on the concepts and materials of the course.
After being approved for a solvent program approved by IUPUI, apply to use your $2,500 scholarship for the Honors College Study Abroad. These application forms allow you to develop honor projects with faculty and apply for honor credits through courses, student teaching, independent study, research, and other experiences. Students who submit an honors contract application, an honors credit application, or an H398 application must submit a discussion paper at the end of the semester in addition to the requirements to earn an honors credit for the experience. Honor contracts must be completed and returned to the Honors Office (0124UL) before the end of the third week of the semester or at the end of the first week of summer. However, early submission is highly recommended. Honors College staff review all contracts and inform each student of the approval or need for a review. The faculty member is responsible for determining the work evaluation criteria of the student`s specialization contract. Please complete the following before the application form: Honors Credit is open to students of IUPUI Honors College. Non-Honors students with at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 may contact Honors College to request permission to submit an Honors contract application.

The entire Honors project will be worth 150 points on 18% of the final grade of the course. The honors contract does not replace regular work. To receive Honors credits, the student must complete all regular courses as well as the Honors contract and receive at least an overall score B (not B) in class. Honor contracts must be completed, submitted and approved by faculty members via the online form. You should receive an email asking you to approve the student`s specialization contract proposal. If you participate in a study abroad program taught by an IUPUI faculty member, you can earn Honors credits by enrolling in a traditional Honors contract instead of enrolling in HON-H 398. However, if you are enrolled in a study abroad program that is not taught by the IUPUI faculty and would like to earn honorable credits for the program, you may have the opportunity to enroll in HON-H 398 and begin a project with Dr. Ian McIntosh, an international consultant. McIntosh for more information on this option. The form is a fully digital application and requires that you do not bring any paper materials. If you have any questions, please contact honors@iupui.edu. All contract work must be completed before the end of the semester and the student`s grade must be declared at the end of the semester, when grades are due. Students MUST complete their Honors project once they have submitted their Honors contract application to the Honors College office. The Registrar`s Office creates a special Honors section of the course for the student, and he/she cannot be moved back to the original section after being moved to the Honors section. If for some reason a student is not able to complete the project during the semester, they have only two options: Fill out this form to receive honor credits for a regular course. At the end of the semester, you will be required to submit a 500-800 word discussion paper on your specialization thesis in the course.
